President's Notes: Yoga and films in August 2019
We have two new events in August and one ongoing series.
We are partnering with No Wahala Body, a Black Owned Business (BOB), to bring a weekly yoga series to Eureka. Kemetic Yoga is an ancient Egyptian system of Yoga enlightenment based upon the practices of physical movements combined with controlled deep breathing and meditation. Make time for self care and support a local business.
Our stories need to be told outside of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday and Black History month so we are starting a seasonal Documentary Series to highlight Black American's stories throughout the year. We are starting with Amazing Grace about Aretha Franklin. We are partnering with the Arcata Playhouse for this series. Keep an eye out for our November 20th documentary. Our Family Film Series continues the last Wednesday of the month at 5:45pm at the Humboldt County Library in Eureka. All films feature characters of color and range from G to PG-13. Films are shown January through October. Our August 31st film is Beasts of the Southern Wild (PG13). See the trailer at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvqZzSMIZa0
